This very rare bottling of 37 year old Caol Ila approaches some of the oldest bottlings from the iconic Islay distillery. Distilled back in May 1981 and matured in a single bourbon hogshead until June 2018, this single malt was drawn from cask #3245, which yielded just 183 bottles.

Presented at a deliciously strong cask strength of 56.1% abv, and without chill-filtration.

Tasting notes

NOSE: Soft, damp coal smoke, with citrus notes, malt, and shortbread biscuits.

PALATE: Mature and balanced between smoky elements and delicate marine notes of seaweed and salt.

FINISH: Lush, sweet, smoky, spicy, and complex. A shining example of what time in an undisturbed cask does to a peated whisky.
