Octave casks are approximately 1/8th the size of a butt, allowing for a greater surface to liquid contact that allows the cask to have a larger influence on the whisky in a shorter amount of time.

Another brilliant single cask release from Caol Ila, which is Islay’s largest distillery by volume and forms the peated backbone of Johnnie Walker blends, among others. This rare 15 year old single malt was distilled in 2008 and bottled by Duncan Taylor for their The Octave range in 2023.
This bottling is drawn from cask number 4036556 at a natural strength of 53.9% abv, and is one of only 68 bottles.
