The name Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic, “Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain” which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands. Glengyle now produces a range of Kilkerran Single Malt whiskies, all natural in colour and non-chill filtered. All Kilkerran whisky characterises typical Campbeltown drams; rich, complex and perfectly balanced.
Kilkerran Ltd Ed Heavily Peated Batch 6 57.4%
57.3% | 70cl | Ltd Ed | NCF | Campneltown | Peated | 80ppm?
Distilled at the Glengyle Distillery of Campbeltown. Batch 6 of this heavily peated whisky. Previous batches were peated to 84ppm and the information we have seems to suggest that this is in a similar ppm. Slightly higher sherry cask mix than the previous batches, matured in 75% Bourbon and 25% Sherry Casks.
N: Toasted marshmallows and notes of leather bound books kick off this heavily peated dram, along with notes of lobster creels and tarred ropes by the seaside hinting at the characteristic maritime influence.
P: Sweet peat smoke with notes of honeycomb, gingerbread and mint. A fruity element develops over time in hints of pineapple and banana.
F: A peppery finish with notes of allspice, the peat smoke endures to the conclusion of this dram.
